St. Paul's Cathedral, London

4.5
With its massive dome punctuating the London skyline, St. Paul's Cathedral is one of the city's most distinct sights. Both visually and ceremonially significant, the cathedral has hosted the funerals of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, Sir Winston Churchill, and Margaret Thatcher, and the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Climb to the top of the dome, pausing in the Whispering Gallery to hear murmurs from 30 m (100 ft) away, before walking up 271 more steps for panoramic views of London from the Golden Gallery. Head down to the crypt to view the tombs of national heroes, such as Lord Nelson and the Duke of Wellington. Learn about the cathedral's history in Oculus, a 270-degree film exhibit. For more information about the venue's detailed mosaics, paintings, and architecture, take a guided tour or pick up a touchscreen multimedia guide at the entrance. After touring the cathedral, you can enjoy traditional English tea in the Restaurant at St. Paul’s. • I never had time to visit St Paul's on my last visit and now wonder why. The history, the architecture and the atmosphere in this world famous church have to be experienced. Along with Windsor Castle,...  more »
  • On the outside it is a very nice place, worth going to watch it but to enter the Cathedral charged 20 pounds! taking into consideration that most of the museums in London are free meeting that is an abuse such collection. I imagine that inside it must be beautiful but it is better to spend that money on other things meeting

  • The view at the very top is amazing and very windy when I went. There are around 500 something steps to get to the very top. I HIGHLY suggest not wearing heels of any sort as the steps gets very steep and the walls of the stairs going up gets smaller and smaller. If you are taller than say 6 ft, near the top you definitely will need to crouch down leave certain floors when going up.
  • St. Paul's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings in London. Amazing building, very grand inside. I recommend walking to the top of the cathedral. It is a lot of steps but well worth it. In addition, you will enjoy the magical music here. Must visit!!
