Kensington Gardens, London

4.7
#4 of 185 in Parks in London
Take respite from the bustling city in one of the capital’s eight Royal Parks. William III purchased the area in 1689 to be made into the private gardens of Kensington Palace; the asthmatic King enjoyed its tranquility and salubrious air. Today, Kensington Gardens serve as a peaceful refuge for all people living in, working in, or visiting Central London. Stroll through the avenues of trees and ornamental flower beds, pop into the Serpentine Gallery, and take in some of the Gardens’ most famous landmarks including the Albert Memorial, Peter Pan Statue, and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground. • This park is beautiful with "the Round Pond" where you will be accosted by the birds: Swans, duck, hens of water and pigeons... Magic. In addition, you can admire the brick façade of Kensington Palace and stroll through the charming Sunken garden, where Lady Diana used to walk around and converse with the gardeners.

  • Overall all the parks in London are very cute and one can do pic nic on them as they have lagoons, great views of the city. But the Kensington has the garden of Lady Di and then tour it with all white flowers, in summer time is ideal for walking and you do not have to spend a pound.

  • Green Parrots. Trees. Open space. Unlimited possibilities. Beautiful in summer and winter. Well kept and relatively clean and safe. Plenty wildlife to enjoy and quite busy most times of the year. Relaxing and peaceful.
  • A peaceful park around the Kensington Palace. I liked the walk in this park from the Natural Science Museum to the Buckingham Palace, through the Hyde and the Green parks. This one has big lawns, a lake, a Palace (!) and lot of animals - squirrels, waterfowl, etc. Nice to stroll around in the sun, in the first month of spring.
