City Palace of Udaipur, Udaipur

4.3
#1 of 850 in Museums in India
A lakeside conglomeration of structures merged into a fort-like whole, City Palace of Udaipur represents one of the most iconic and popular attractions in the entire state. You'll immediately notice the palace's crowning glory as you approach--a lengthy and intricate white facade that stretches for 244 m (801 ft) along the lakefront, complete with numerous balconies and verandas. Begun in 1599 by the founder of the city, the palace eventually grew into a semi-connected complex of similar structures. Wander the extensive grounds and explore the numerous courtyards, halls, and elephant-fighting pits within, long used by the ruling family still in possession of the property. Don't miss stopping by the palace's museum to learn more about the history of the region and the fortress itself. • We were pleasantly surprised by the City Palace! In our opinion one of the most beautiful of India! Each room where you came brought a new surprise. It consists of two parts (the museum and ordinary share) certainly both visits! The City Palace also provides a nice atmosphere to all over the city. You see it in many places and that makes Udaipur so beautiful! Tip: enjoy the sunset on the other side of the river.

  • Fascinating architecture, the size and the richness of the Palace shows the stories of this place. It might be worth two-three hours for a tour so unique gems.

  • Emerge and greatest story of the fort and One of the best forts in Rajasthan. It's enormous, spectacular and obviously of great historic importance. It's beauty lies in it's very foundation. Well maintained place and some of the part is converted in to hotel. If you are willing to visit Rajasthan then I would recommend you to visit this place or else you will definitely miss something. Happy tourism.
  • Its worth visiting. The palace is amazing, the ticket price is expensive as it is maintained by private property(king's) but the money is worth it. Also the guides&guards are well aware of the palace and are friendly and kind. The view from the palace is worth watching. Also is maintained properly
