Ibirapuera Park, Sao Paulo

Home to various museums and monuments, Ibirapuera Park is one of the city’s most important recreational and cultural areas. This green area features sprawling areas designated for picnicking, jogging, cycling, and walking. The park’s importance to the city, locals claim, is comparable to that of Central Park to the residents of New York City. One of Latin America’s largest urban parks, the site opened in 1954 to mark the 400th anniversary of the city. Many of the park’s buildings were designed by famed architect Oscar Niemeyer, while the landscaped green zones were planned by agronomist Otávio Agusto de Teixeira Mendes. The park is home to the Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the iconic Obelisk of Sao Paolo, symbol of Brazil’s Constitutional Revolution. • The Ibirapuera Park has a wide choice of tours due to its breadth, it is possible to make the rental of bicycles so that you can walk inside gave park. Throughout its extension there are tracks for pedestrians and tracks for practicing sports in equipment such as skates and bicycles for example... It also has a kind of gallery (I didn't find out exactly what was in there) where at the bottom there was a small fair on site and next to some dance performances.

  • Large park with cycling track, jogging track, lake, extensive lawn for sports practice. I went on a Sunday and got some popsicles. There is also coconut water available for purchase. There are several play ground toys for children to play.

  • Awesome area near downtown. Great buildings and monuments. Generally safe yet common sense must be used. The buildings display innovative architecture that highlights in their design the vast uniqueness of Brazil.
  • Great place to run and stretch in Sao Paulo. Come here and get motivated to do some real work out. Coconut water is available to quench your thirst.
