Chapada is a Brazilian word that means a region of steep cliffs, usually at the edge of a plateau, and it is for these geological formations that Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park is named. With so many of these red, rock formations, panoramic vistas and cascading waterfalls abound. As you explore the park, you will find the dense rain forest gives way suddenly to Cerrado--vast tropical savanna--, and vice versa, like stepping into another world. Explore the park's cave systems, stand at the geographical center of South America, visit the brilliant blue lake which gets its color from microscopic bacteria, or simply enjoy the various flora and fauna, including tropical birds such as macaws and king vultures. A visit to Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Chapada dos Guimaraes holiday site to plot your vacation.

  • I've been here a few times with friends and I have always been impressed with the beauty of nature. Today places like waterfall ice hockey ...?, all with a great infrastructure for visitors. Anyone who wants to can take advantage of and to swim. Several viewpoints on the Chapada dos Guimarães. Place a must for people who go to Cuiabá.

  • The tour circuit of waterfalls is amazing, but quite pulled. Our guide said that was tempered, however, if anyone has more age or difficulties with walking in the Sun, it's pretty grueling ida and the back on a road in the open. The tracks between Waterfalls are easier. High point: Cachoeira das Andorinhas-the most beautiful, a fall of 25 m. Get well soon Valley or to the end of the tour. Was empty. The trails are also very clean, no garbage. Low: structure of the Park is quite precarious. There are no bathrooms on input and output or in the parking lot. IMPORTANT: the Guide PABLO PASCUAL, recommended by many people here on the Trip, left us in hand on the third day. You didn't answer phone messages, didn't pick up phone and left us waiting at the rendezvous point, without warning. We are waiting and not knowing what happened, we had to go after another Guide and end up losing 1 day trip. He was also the change of the tour the day before that was the next day. Even if something had happened, he could have warned us and marked the other day it was for us to return the money. We found a huge disrespect. Watch Valley and hire specialized agency Guide, don't have that kind of an unpleasant surprise.

  • Some stunning views and picturesque waterfalls. Unfortunately a few of the best spots have been 'privatised' and are no longer open to the public, much to the disgust of the locals.
  • One of the best adventures and connection with nature from the center-east stat of Brazil!
